Bellino applauds grant for Litchfield park improvements

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Joseph Bellino is applauding the announcement that the city of Litchfield will be able to make over $1 million in improvements to Children’s Park thanks to a recently approved state grant.

“This funding will bring more fun for children and improve opportunities for everyone in the community to use and enjoy the park,” said Bellino, R-Monroe. “This is great news for everyone in Hillsdale County. Revitalizing parks like this help enhance the quality of life for local families and also help attract new talent to our state.”

The Michigan Strategic Fund awarded Litchfield $919,535 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds toward a $1,161,315 project to make improvements to Children’s Park, including a new splash pad, band shell, renovated bathrooms and concession space, and all-inclusive play equipment for children ages 5-12.

The MSF on Tuesday approved 16 Public Gathering Spaces Initiative (PGSI) grants totaling $20 million. The PGSI was opened in February to fund improvements intended to increase the usability, accessibility and seasonality within new or existing community spaces on publicly owned property in communities on the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Low- and Moderate-Income Community Customers list.
