Bellino named 2025’s most conservative state senator

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Joseph Bellino has been named the “most conservative” member of the Michigan Senate in 2025, according to the Capitol news outlet MIRS.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for consistently voting for less government and more freedom,” said Bellino, R-Monroe. “I’ve worked hard to promote and enact conservative policies that improve fiscal accountability, protect Michigan taxpayers and help build a stronger economy for everyone in our state.”

MIRS reported Bellino voted conservative on 44 of 46 key votes taken during the 2025 Michigan legislative session — for a 96% conservative voting record.

Bellino edged out Sen. Thomas Albert, R-Lowell, and Sen. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton, who both voted conservative on 42 out of 46 sampled roll call votes.

“The people of my district elected me to be a voice for them for personal liberty and limited government, and I’ll continue to fight to preserve their freedoms and oppose misguided policies that increase the intrusion of government into people’s lives,” Bellino said.
