LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Joseph Bellino on Wednesday applauded the city of Hillsdale for earning a $375,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation for work on Industrial Drive.
“This transportation economic development grant will help the city attract new investment and jobs to the community and enhance the Hillsdale Manufacturing and Technology Park,” said Bellino, R-Monroe. “In addition to supporting economic growth, fixing our roads improves the safety of families and workers who use our roads on a daily basis.”
A fiscal year 2027 Transportation Economic Development Fund Category F grant for up to $375,000 has been awarded to Hillsdale to resurface Industrial Drive from Beck Road to Mechanic Street, including crushing, shaping and repaving the road surface and replacing curbs and gutters.
Industrial Drive is an all-season route used to transport automotive parts, precision tools, electrical accessories, large-scale lighting systems, and metal and plastic components.
The $644,000 project will be covered by up to $375,000 from the state and $269,000 in matching funds from the city of Hillsdale.
Category F grants are competitive grants intended to preserve and/or expand all-season road networks within the urban areas of rural counties.
